LAST RITES FOR C.H. BROGMUS

SERVICES CONDUCTED AT
THE FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH
IN ST. ANSGAR, IA.
FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Ernst Christian Heinrick Brogmus, oldest son of Amos and Elise Brogmus, was born September 17, 1881, on a farm near Grafton, Iowa. He was baptized November 6, 1881, by Rev. I. L. Zeilinger and confirmed into the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rock Creek by Rev. J. Westenberger, April 7, 1895.

He completed his elementary education and when he was 18, took a business course at the St. Ansgar Seminary, after which he worked as a clerk in the Closs Dry Goods store.

February 14, 1907, he was united in marriage with Clara I. Tidemanson of St. Ansgar, Iowa by Rev. M.E. Waldeland. To this union was born a son, Albion E. Brogmus, who preceded him in death and a daughter, Maurine. After his marriage he joined the First Lutheran Church of St. Ansgar, Iowa, of which he was an active and interested member until his death.

From 1905 to 1918 he was in partnership with his brother, William, in the meat market business. In 1918, after selling the meat market, they entered into the poultry and egg packing business where he served in the capacity of manager the remainder of his life.

He entered the clinic at Rochester, Minnesota the last of February, remaining there at that time for 2 weeks, receiving treatment, and had returned to Rochester last Saturday for further examination and treatment. At one o'clock Tuesday morning he called for a doctor but apparently there did not seem to be anything serious and he went back to sleep. He passed away at 2:10 a.m. from heart failure at the age of 51 years, 8 months and 10 days.

Mr. Brogmus served on the St. Ansgar, Iowa Town Council and had been a member of the Park Commission for a number of years. Last year he was elected president of the Lions Club, his term of office expiring this week. He was also chairman on the committee now actively engaged in installing the organ in the First Lutheran church.

Mr. Brogmus was a member of the National Poultry, Butter and Egg Association as well as the state associations in Iowa and Minnesota. He was also member of the Iowa Poultry and Egg Improvement Associaton and served as its president the past year.

Mr. Brogmus leaves to mourn his death, his wife Clara, a daughter Mrs. Orval H. Ause, St. Paul, Minnesota; his aged parents, Mr. & Mrs. A. Brogmus, a sister, Miss Lydia, who lives with her parents, and five brothers, William and George of St. Ansgar; Robert of Red Oak, Iowa; Julius of St. Paul, Minnesota; and Walter of Hutchinson, Minnesota.
