Funeral services for Dorothy Rose (Beyer) Clayton, age 80, of Mitchell, were held on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa, with Rev. Wayne Ellingson and Irmgard Ellingson, Associate in Ministry, officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Dorothy passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Dorothy was born September 27, 1925, in Mitchell County, the first born child of George and Elfrieda (Hackbart) Beyer. She attended school in Mitchell, graduating High School there in 1943. Dorothy was confirmed in the Christian Faith by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Osage.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Lee Clayton, Sr., also of Mitchell, on December 16, 1943, in San Diego, California, while Robert was serving in the Navy during World War II. She worked as a riveter on aircraft assembly, assisting the War Campaign. Following the war, the family returned to Mitchell, where Bob and Dorothy opened and operated a business known as Clayton's Body and Welding, until Bob's health led to retirement. She continued to support and care for him until his passing in 1997.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Lee Clayton Sr.; a daughter Pamela; her parents; and a brother Delbert Beyer.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Robert Lee Clayton, Jr. (Myra) of Rock Springs, Wyo., Cheryl Bonjour (Lynn) of Osage, Laurie Barta of Manly, Iowa, Brian Clayton (Kim) of Mitchell, Lyle Clayton (Sandy) of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Dolores Hucke of Ottertail, Minnesota, and Dallas Heinzerling (Glen) of Osage; six brothers, Donald Beyer (Dorothy) of Mitchell, Darrell "Bibe" Beyer (Sharon) of Osage, Dale Beyer of Charles City, Dennis Beyer (Judy) of Fredericksburg, Dean Beyer (Anola) of Mitchell, and a sister-in-law Dorothy Beyer of New Hampton.

Arrangements were made by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage (641)732-3706.
