Served Immanuel Lutheran church from 1890-1895.
Immanuel's Lutheran Church proceded, together with St. John's congregation in Cedar Township, to call as successor to Pastor Wiegner, the Rev. E. Hantel of Hemlock, Saginaw Co., Michigan. Pastor Hantel accepted this call and was installed here in September of the year 1890.
He continued the work of his predecessor within the congregation, in the school, and also to some extent in the mission stations. Little is remembered of him. But he appears to have been an efficient worker in the pulpit and in the school. He led the congregation in erecting a new parsonage. The congregation continued to grow and increase. And he initiated the use of the English language in the school. His wife assisted him especially in choir work.
After resigning from his local charge in November of 1895, he remained for a few months, and then returned with his wife and family of eight children to his native Michigan.
One of his children died in infancy and lies at rest in our cemetery.
