GLENWOOD OPINION
DATED SEPTEMBER 16, 1897:

On Wednesday of lat week, Sept. 8, death claimed another of our citizens. For several months Mrs. J. W. Mickelwait had been ill, but there were few who realized the nature or seriousness of the trouble. It was evident, however, to those treating her that it was only a question of time when she would be taken away. The time came altogether too soon for her many friends and relatives.

The funeral was held at the home, Pastor F. R. Leach officiating.

Though the day was very warm the funeral was largely attended. Through all the sickness the departed showed a patience and sweetness of disposition seldom seen in one who suffered so much. Mrs. Mickelwait was a member of the Baptist church of this city, faithful and earnest in her Christian life. She was highly respected by all who knew her. A husband and two children, Jennie and Ivy, remain to mourn the loss.

Mrs. Mickelwait was born in Noble County, Ohio, May 4, 1854, and was therefore 43 years of age at her death. In 1875 she was married to J. W. Mickelwait. They resided in Mills County till ‘83, when they moved to Nebraska, there they lived till two years ago when they returned to Glenwood.

The family desires to express their sincere thanks to the many friends who rendered timely assistance during the illness and funeral.
