Mrs. Julia McCoy:
Julia Josephine Richards, daughter of Milton and Caroline Walling Richards was born April 6, 1876, at Glenwood and died April 18, [1961] at the Horton Rest home at the age of 85.
Her education was received in the Glenwood schools, where she was graduated with the class of 1893.
In April 1901, she was united in marriage with William E. McCoy. Five children were born to this union, three of whom survive. A daughter, Josephine, died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Helen Hillyer, died in February, 1960. Her husband preceded her in death in May 1942.
She was united with the Glenwood Methodist church in early womanhood. Mrs. McCoy had lived most of her life in or near Glenwood. Both her maternal and paternal grandparents were early-day settlers in Mills county.
Surviving are a daughter, Pheobe, and a son, Herman, both of Glenwood and a son and a granddaughter. Elwood and Peggy McCoy of Council Bluffs.
Services were held April 20 at Raynor-Hamilton Funeral chapel with the Rev. Clyde Mosher officiating. Music was by Mrs. Phillip Lenz and Mrs. Herman Vohs. Flowers ladies were Mrs. Lucy Wilcox and Mrs. Amy Boyer. Pallbearers were Harold Hofmockel, Glen Boyer, Carl Hurst Jr., Chris Vohs, Simon Stille, and Ralph McPherron.
Interment was in Glenwood cemetery.
