Large Number Assembled at Funeral Services in Pacific Junction Sunday for Arbuth Russel

One of the largest number of persons to ever assemble for a funeral service in that community, gathered at the Methodist Church in Pacific Junction Sunday afternoon for the service for Arbuth Russel, high school senior who was drowned while swimming in Twin Lakes near Bartlett Wednesday evening.

Arbuth Newton, the son of Harry and Hazel Russel, was born in Council Bluffs, May 27, 1925, and passed away July 8, 1942 at the age of 17 years, one month and eleven days.

For the past seven years, he has lived in Pacific Junction. Arbuth attended the Pacific Junction schools and would have been a senior in high school this fall. About one year ago he became a member of the Community Methodist Church of Pacific Junction.

Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Charles L. Ellis, pastor in charge. Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. Frank Boyle and Mrs. Shirley Lincoln, Sr.
Those who served as flower bearers were Shelia Johnson, Shirley Lechliter, Flossie Marie Powles and Mary Lois Harmon.

The pallbearers were Claude Richardson, Franklin Raymond, Dean Lincoln, Robert Osborn, James Gleason, Glen Rhoades. These young men and women serving as pallbearers and flower ladies constituted the members of his high school class.
He leaves to mourn his untimely passing, his father, Harry Russel of Pacific Junction; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Colvin of Lake View, Ore., two sisters, Dorothy and Lillie and his grandmother Mrs. Pike of Council Bluffs, also his classmates and young friends.

The body was laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery. The service was under the direction of the Raynor Funeral Home.
