Benjamin Franklin Barnett died Jan. 29, 1911 at Malvern. He was born in 1828 near Columbus, Ohio, and was married to Elizabeth Mesick in 1856. Seven children were born to them, but these are all dead except the daughter, Mrs. J.E. Knight.

He came to eastern Iowa in 1863, and seven years later came to Malvern.

His wife died Feb. 11, 1893. He was again united in marriage August 24, 1894, to Lizzie Cartan, who departed this life, Jan. 19, 1897.
Mr. Barnett united with the M.E. church in 1900. He leaves besides his daughter, a sister, Mrs. A.H. Brown of Oakland, Iowa.
