The news of the death of Edwin J. Abbott, lovingly called “Dad” Abbott, at his home in Council Bluffs on Monday brought regret from the many Glenwood people who knew him well.

“Dad” Abbott had visited Glenwood quite frequently of late years. He was an enthusiastic K. of P. and his brother Knights of Glenwood held him in strong affection.

E.J. Abbott was 77 years old and a veteran of the Civil War. He died in the house in which he had lived for 47 years. He was born in London and came with his parents to Cleveland, Ohio, and he later came to Council Bluffs. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday with burial in Fairview cemetery.
