Mills County Tribune
July 23, 1914

After many years of patient invalidism, Miss Adella Birdsall of Emerson passed from this life to the one beyond last Monday morning.

The funeral was held Wednesday morning at the home of her mother, conducted by Rev. Van Dyke of the Emerson M.E. church.

Her surviving relatives are her mother, Mrs. Phoebe Birdsall; two sisters, Mrs. J.F. Martin of Hastings and Mrs. Frank Wallace of Glenwood; three brothers, Horace of Claremont, S. Dak., William of Omaha and Edward of Emerson.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Barnum of Monmouth, Ill., the latter a niece, were present during her closing hours. Burial was in the Emerson cemetery.

It was her lot to be an invalid for the larger portion of her life. For the last 30 years she was a great sufferer, but especially the last two or three years her physical and mental struggles were severe, and during the last year she was constantly bedfast. But in spite of this fact Miss Ardell was and continued to be cheerful and suffered in patience. As often is the case with such—
Suffering was her gain; she bowed
To her Heavenly Father’s will,
And received it hushed and still;
Enough to know—it was the Father’s will
