September 26, 1918Mrs. Rose Harris of this place was taken to Council Bluffs last week to the Edmundson hospital where on Wednesday she underwent an operation. She was unable to survive the shock of the operation and passed away Wednesday evening, September 18.
Funeral services were held from the home of her brother, F.H. Berry in Council Bluffs Saturday at one o’clock and the remains brought to Malvern Sunday and services held at the late home Sunday afternoon conducted Rev. J.E. Wilkins of Emerson. The Royal Neighbors had charge of the services at the cemetery using the beautiful ritual of their order. The pall bearers were her nephews and brothers; J.W., F.H. and G.H. Berry and M.B. Clark, J.R. Bower, Henry McCarty.
Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Harris and Harold of St. Joseph, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. O.M. Harris of Villisca, Mrs. Shyras of Villisca, Mr. and Mrs. Starr of Hastings and the Misses Poulson of Council Bluffs.
Rose Etta Berry was born in Hastings, July 4, 1880. She was married to Dell Harris of Malvern, February 16, 1903, and has ever since made this her home.
She was a member of the Baptist church in Malvern and also a member of the Royal Neighbors camp of this place.
She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. James Berry and seven sisters and three brothers. They are Mrs. John Clark, Mrs. Persley Coons, Mrs. Flora Bower of Hastings, Mrs. Wiley Dunn of Malvern, Mrs. Abe Everhart and Misses Lillian and Florence Berry and J.W., F.H. and G.H. Berry all of Council Bluffs.
