Florence Fern McCoy, 91 of Glenwood, died at Glen Haven Home April 2, 2005. Pastor Gary Zurek held a private graveside funeral service with Mrs. McCoy’s family at the Glenwood Cemetery. Hertz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McCoy was born one of two children to Valentine Walker and Bernice Ella (Avery) Fisk in Curlew, Iowa on Oct. 25, 1913. She moved to Des Moines and then Omaha she graduated from Tech High School in Omaha in 1932. She married William Elwood McCoy on May 25, 1940, in Lincoln, Neb. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Peggy. They moved to Glenwood in 1965. They were married 42 years when William died in 1982. Mrs. McCoy enjoyed being a homemaker, camping, sewing and craft and spending time with her family.

Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by her parents; husband William; brother, Avery Fisk; and brother in law Herman McCoy. She is survived by her daughter Peggy Swanson and husband Stukely of Glenwood; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sister in law Evelyn McCoy of Glenwood; a niece and nephews.

Hertz Funeral Home of Glenwood was in charge of arrangements.
