July 21, 1932Mrs. L. F. Johnson Died in Sheridan
Was Former Resident of Mills County; Funeral July 19
Word was received here Saturday of the death of Mrs. Ada Durbin Johnson, a former well known resident of Mills county, at her home in Sheridan, Wyo., Saturday morning, July 16.
Death was not unexpected as she had been seriously ill for some time past and her sister, Mrs. J. W. Baer, had been called to her bedside just a few days previous.
Mrs. Johnson, who was the daughter of the late Joshua Durbin of near Emerson, spent her early life in eastern Mills and had many friends who remember her association with pleasure and who will sorrow deeply over her passing. Just after her marriage she moved with her husband to Sheridan Wyo., where her gracious hospitality drew a large circle of friends to her.
For the past two years she has been in poor health and has endured an unusual amount of suffering but ever remaining cheerful and uncomplaining.
She died at her home, 624 South Main street, Saturday morning. She was sixty-eight years old.
Mrs. Johnson came here with her husband in 1901. She was born in Fredericktown, Ohio.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Cox, and a granddaughter, Jeanne Barbara Cox, of Sheridan; two sisters, Mrs. R.L. Hale and Mrs. J.W. Baer, both of Malvern, Iowa, and two brothers, James Durbin of Emerson, Iowa, and Fred Durbin of Malvern.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the past matrons club of the P.E. O. chapter B, the D.A.R.. Naomi chapter No. 2 of the order of the Eastern Star, and the Congregational church ladies circle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational church with the Rev. Horace Mann, pastor, officiating. The casket will not be opened at the church, but friends wishing to view the body may do so at the Read mortuary until 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
