Gertrude Hampton age 87 of Tabor, IA died Monday, January 24, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA following a brief illness.

Gertrude was born March 21, 1917 in Randolph, IA to Clyde E. Heaton and Lulu (Martin) Heaton. She was a 1934 graduate of Stran High School and on March 17, 1937 she was married to Kenneth Duane Hampton in Red Oak, IA. Gertrude worked as a Postal Clerk in the Tabor, IA Post Office for over 30 years and was a member of the Tabor First Congregational United Church of Christ. She was an avid golfer who took great pride in the yard around her home, and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star the American Legion Auxiliary.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Duane Hampton; sister, Willa Skougard; brother, Millard (Mike) Heaton; and a niece, Daniece Beardsley. She is survived by her son, Dale D. Hampton and wife Faye of Freeport, FL; 2 grandsons, Trent Hampton and wife Janet of Liberty, MO and Todd Hampton and wife Heidi of LaGrange Park, IL; 3 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah and Matthew Hampton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
