August 5, 1918William S. Asbury, a prominent attorney of Ottumwa, son-in-law of our Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Miller, died at his home July 11, 1918. He was born on August 1, 1873, making him lack 21 days of 45 years of age.
In 1904 he was united in marriage to Miss Pearl Miller of Glenwood. To this union was born one daughter, Charlotte LeMoine, now aged six years.
The deceased is survived by the wife, daughter, parents, a brother and two sisters. The brother is now a corporal in France.
A friend contributes a memorium to the deceased that shows the high character of him when death has called this early in life.
Mr. Asbury’s parents are pioneers of Wapello county. His early ancestors, served in the Revolutionary war. The deceased studied law at Creighton Law school, Omaha, and later, 1908, he entered Drake University and on June 3, 1909, realized the ambition of his youth when he was granted the right by the Supreme Court of Iowa to practice law in the courts of the state. He has practiced in the courts at Ottumwa since his admission to the bar.
His friends characterize Mr. Asbury as a man of kindly disposition and regarded the rights of others. He manifested towards others courtesy, and kindness under all circumstances. His human life was ideal and he was true, honest and straight in all the relations of life
