Norman Thomas “Tom” Pierce, 47, of Glenwood, died Jan. 3, 2005, at the Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 7, 7 p.m., at the Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pastor Greg Kline will officiate the service.
Mr. Pierce was the son of Norman and Colleen (Kline) Pierce, born Aug. 22, 1957, in Council Bluffs. He was raised in Malvern, graduating from Malvern High School. He participated in many sports and was an avid Iowa State fan, He received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He earned his Masters in Education from Northwest Missouri State and was in the National Guard, serving as a medic. He received the Commanding General’s Award for Excellence. He was employed with R.T.I. as a sales manager for the past 10 years.
Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Tamara Pierce of Glenwood; stepdaughter Lena Sokolova of Russia; parents Norman and Colleen Pierce of Malvern; sister Shannon McCaslin and husband John of Glenwood; nieces Shari Sell, Samantha Sell and Sara Sell, all of Glenwood; brother Brian Pierce and wife Brenda of Tabor; nieces and nephews Brittany Pierce, Kaleb Pierce, Ethan Pierce and Noah Pierce, all of Malvern; and a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Glenwood Public Library. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
