Dorothy Lavonne Meyers, 71, of Glenwood, died Nov. 17, 2004, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Funeral services were held Nov. 20 at the Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Rev. Doug Achterhof officiated the services. Burial was at the Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Meyers was the daughter of Merle James and Dorothy (Piper) Herron, born November 20, 1932, in Sterling, Colo. She was raised in Colorado and graduation from Akron High School. She was united in marriage to Lawrence (Bud) Raymond Meyers on April 6, 1950 in Last Chance, Colorado To this union six children were burn. The family moved to Glenwood in 1970. Mrs. Meyers was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was employed as a dietary supervisor at the Glenwood State Hospital-School until her retirement. Being with her family, especially her grandchildren, was always her most pleasurable times spent. She enjoyed crafts, attending auctions and garage sales and antiquing with her husband. She was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and Denver Broncos.
Mrs. Meyers was preceded in death by her parents, son Randy and infant brother. She is survived by husband Bud of Glenwood; children Larry Meyers and wife Laurie of St. Peters, Mo., Merle “Marty” Meyers and wife Debbie of Bennett, Col., Roger Meyers and wife Linda of Glenwood, Ron Meyers and wife Cris of Glenwood and Tammy Gaines and husband Dwight of Johnston; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother Newell Herron and wife June of Anton, Col.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Ron Meyers cancer fund. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
