Bernice Woodfill, 91, of Prescott, Ariz., formerly of Malvern, died Sept. 12, 2004, at the Willow Winds Assisted Living Facility in Prescott. Funeral services were held Sept. 17 at the Strahan United Methodist Church. Pastor David Kim and Pastor Gordon Scott officiated the services Interment was at the Malvern Cemetery.

Mrs. Woodfill was the daughter of William “Carl” and Maude (Coiner) Wilson, born Oct. 26, 1912, in Malvern. She graduated from Malvern High School in 1929 and attended Baylor College for Women in Belton, Texas. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1993 with a BA in mathematics. She attended graduate college at the University of Nebraska and Creighton University in Omaha. She married Marvin Clyde Woodfill on Feb. 1, 1934. After living and farming in Iowa, they moved in January 1936 to California, where Mr. Woodfill worked as a machinist. They returned to Iowa in 1942 and farmed near Strahan, raising their two sons. In 1957, Mrs. Woodfill started her teaching career and taught at the Glenwood, Silver City, Malvern and Shenandoah High Schools and in the Omaha Public School system. She retired in 1978 but kept in touch with many of her former students. Mrs. Woodfill was a member of the Strahan Methodist Church from 1934 until her death and taught Sunday School for 35 years. She directed the senior choir and served as church organist. She was also a member of the Strahan United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Glenwood Chapter of D.A.R., the Pilot Club of Omaha and the Omaha Retired Teachers. In February 2001, she moved to Prescott.

Mrs. Woodfill was preceded in death by her husband; infant children Carolyn, Richard and Phyllissa; and sister Phyllis Conner Benton. She is survived by Sons Marvin Carl Woodfill and wife Marolee of Prescott and Robert Edward Woodfill and wife Donna of Hastings; grandchildren Melinda Beseler, Mark Woodfill, David S. Woodfill Rob Woodfill, Bonnie Woodfill, David N. Woodfill, Daniel Woodfill and Stephanie Woodfill; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the Malvern Library Building Fund, the Malvern Student Loan Fund or the Nishna Valley Student Loan Fund. Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home in Malvern was in charge of arrangements.
