DEATHS
Marlin C. Young

Marlin Christopher Young was born in the state of Tennessee on May 29, 1836 and departed this life November 6, 1918, aged 82 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

Mr. Young came to Missouri from Tennessee when a small boy, where he resided until the Civil War, when he spent four years in the service of his country, part of this time on the western frontier protecting the early settlers from the hostile Indians.

At the close of the Rebellion he came to Iowa and on January 14, 1871, was married to Jane Wilson at Council Bluffs. To this union twelve children were born - five sons and seven daughters. One son and six daughters have gone on before. His wife, four sons and one daughter survive him. The children are John Young of Linwood, Neb., George of Randolph, Neb., Leonard and Frank and Mrs. Edward Schultz of Council Bluffs. Besides the wife and children he leaves one brother, Tilman Young, of Glenwood; four half-brothers, who live in Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. George Tarr, of Fravel, Kan., and Mrs. Cassie Hayes of Greentop, Mo.

At a revival meeting held at a schoolhouse near Folsom about twenty-nine years ago, Mr. Young was converted and opened his home for prayer and other meetings and took an active interest in helping to build up the cause of Christ in his community.

Mr. Young, like the patriarch Job, has had some severe trials and losses, and for the past eight years has been feeble in health. For the past three months he has been bedfast much of the time and a great sufferer until the angel of death touched him on Wednesday morning, November 6, at 5:30, when he passed from this life to the life beyond, where there is no more sorrow, pain, sickness, or death.

The funeral services were held at his late residence in Council Bluffs at 2 p. m. Thursday afternoon, conducted by Elder L. B. Worcester of Tabor, assisted by Elder T. D. Lane of Bellevue, Neb. Interment was made in the West Liberty cemetery north of Glenwood. His sons and a grandson and nephew acted as pallbearers.
