DEATH CLAIMS OLD PIONEERS
John Hardy of Hillsdale and Isaac Mulholland and R.J. Brown of Malvern Pass Away

John Hardy was born in Virginia, May 10, 1832. Died at his home in Hillsdale July 13, 1905. In 1853 he was married to Sarah Ann Brooks and 11 children were the fruits of this union.

Five children survive him, namely, Mrs. E.J. Coleman, Mrs. H.W. Way, O.G., Sherman and Chester Hardy; also his wife.

He lived in Indiana until 1855 when he moved to Monroe county, Iowa, and then to Mills county in 1867, where he has since resided.

He enlisted in the Union army Aug. 6, 1862, and was honorably discharged Jan. 21, 1863, for disability.

Deceased was a member of the Methodist church and was a Christian gentleman, well beloved by all who knew him.

The funeral services were held Sunday at Hillsdale in the U.B. church by Rev. Barkheimer, after which the interment was made in Hillsdale cemetery.

The deceased was an Odd Fellow and there was a large number of that order present from the surrounding towns.

NOTE: Hardy served with Co C 18th Iowa Infantry.
