GLENWOOD RESIDENT CROSSES DARK RIVER. Veteran of Civil War Passes Away at His Home Tuesday Surrounded By Family.

Taps have been blown for another of our honored veterans of the War of the Rebellion. Never again will he march to the music of the martial band, proudly following Old Glory. He has done his part and has passed on to his reward.

The veteran who has been called this time is William Franklin Wilson, who died at his home in Glenwood on November 12th at the age of eighty-one years and two months.

Mr. Wilson was born in Essex county, New York, September 13th. On August 2, 1862, he enlisted in Co. F, 25th Iowa infantry, at Columbus City, Iowa. He served through the Civil War and was discharged for disability at Camp Proclamation, Alabama, January 4th, 1864.

On October 9th, 1862, he was united in marriage to Leah Jane Hershey and their married life has been one of happiness. Mr. Wilson was a model husband, the kindest of fathers and a friend worth having.

Mr. Wilson has been a resident of Glenwood for the past seventeen years and in that time has endeared himself to scores of our citizens.

There are left to mourn Mr. Wilson his wife, one daughter, Mrs. L.E. Hevern, of Glenwood; one son, Fred L., of Pueblo, Colorado; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home on Thursday, November 14th, at 2:30 o'clock p.m. conducted by Rev. Wm. Stevenson and burial was made in Glenwood cemetery. Six of his former comrades in arms acted as pall bearers.

The heartfelt thanks of the family are extended to those who helped and sympathized with them in their time of sorrow.
