Mrs. E. P. Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Tipton, died at the home of her parents in Council Bluffs, Thursday morning at eight o’clock. Her death was caused in a very peculiar manner. She had been treated for ingrown toenails, and this developed a month later into blood poisoning and finally affected the heart.
Mrs. Parker and husband resided at Corning, Iowa. She had gone to Council Bluffs for treatment.
Otelia Jane Tipton Parker was born in McDonough County, Illinois, December 16th, 1862. Her parents moved to Glenwood in 1865. She united with the Baptist Church in Glenwood at the age to ten years under the pastorate of Rev. J. C. Otis. The family moved to the Bluffs in 1893. She was married to Mr. Parker in July 12, 1899.
The funeral services were held at the family residence in Council Bluffs at 8 o’clock Saturday morning and the remains came to Glenwood on No. 4. Short services were held at the grave in the Glenwood Cemetery conducted by Rev. F. A. Case, assisted by Rev. Beaver. Mr. and Mrs. Tipton have many friends here who will extend to them their sympathy in their sad bereavement.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Rev. F. A. Case, L. Cutler, M. M. Parkinson, Joseph W. Smith, J. W. Linninger, W. M. Fredrick of Council Bluffs; Mrs. W. G. Templeton of Omaha; Mrs. A. Crabbily and son Charles of Plattsmouth, Mr. and Mrs. E. Cole of Emerson; Mrs. G. C. Boston and S. B. Tipton of Malvern.
