Donald Charles Gipe, 72, of Golden Valley, Minnesota, died August 14, 2004, at the North Memorial Medical Center. Funeral services were held August 19, 2004, at the Word Of Life Church in Maple Grove, Minnesota. Interment was in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Gipe was the son of Emmett and Marjorie (Cole) Gipe, was born April 9, 1932 in Grandma Cole's house near Emerson, Iowa. He married Helen Flogstad on November 26, 1952 in Ames Iowa. He grew up in Stahan and farmed for 20 years. Many who knew him as a loving man who would go the extra miles to reach out to others through humor will miss him. He was very much a teacher at heart and had a true love for others.

Mr. Gipe is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, David Gipe and wife Cindy of Big Lake, Minnesota and Daniel Gipe and wife Kimberly of Blaine, Minnesota; grandchildren, Nicholas Gipe and wife Angie of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Aaron Gipe of Big Laek, Brandon Gaalswyk and wife Jessica of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Mandi Gaalswyk of Broken Arrow; one great-grandchild on-the-way. Andrew James Gaaswyk, to be born September, son of Brandon and Jessica; mother, Marjorie Gipe of Shenandoah, brother, Doug Gipe and wife Coleen of Malvern; and sister, Geri Manchester and husband Ray of Carlisle, New York.
