Beverly Sue (Smith) Boileau, the sixth child of Thomas Ira Smith and Lois Marie (Hatswell) Smith, was born at the family home in the Wheeler Grove area of rural Pottawattamie County Iowa on June 11, 1931. After starting school in the country at Wheeler Grove, she graduated from Macedonia High School in 1948.

Bev was married to Leo Boileau on September 11, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Macedonia. They made their home on the family farm which would eventually achieve Century Farm status for being in the family for over 100 years. They were blessed with two sons, Dennis Allan and David Dean. All became members of the Henderson Christian Church.

Bev had many interests in addition to her role as farmer’s wife and secretarial jobs at the bank in Henderson, Wearin Farms and Nishna Valley School near Hastings and the Learning Center in Red Oak. She was a noted historian, a genealogy expert and also enjoyed gardening, fancy stitchery, reading history books and playing the piano by ear. She and Leo were avid supporters of the boys’ school sports and 4-H.

Bev and Leo moved from the family farm to Glenwood in 1998. They had been married 57 years when Leo was lost to Alzheimers Disease in 2006.

Beverly died at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs on February 21, 2015, at the age of 83.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ira and Lois Smith, husband, Leo Boileau; two brothers, Lewis (Bud) Smith and Donald L. Smith; and three sisters, Catherine (Smith) Carder, Frances (Smith) Bergen, and Barbara (Smith) Scherle.
