Funeral services were held in the Emerson Methodist Church Saturday for Byron L. Carr, who's death occurred April 1 at Bettendorf. They were conducted by Pastor Rev. Ralph Russell.

Byron Lancelot Carr, son of Charles Edward and Sarah Carr, was born June 11, 1882 in Emerson. He was educated in the public schools of the community going to work as assistant to his father, who was a plasterer, after he quit school.

His occupational interest were varied. He was on separate occasions an auto weather, plasterer, bricklayer, mason, and tire dealer. He had a reputation for honesty and friendliness.

Mr. Carr was a member of Humanity Lodge No. 378, A. F. and A. M. for over 50 years. He was also a past treasurer and a 50 year member of the Emerson No. 121, of the Order of Eastern Star.

In 1960 he entered the Masonic Home at Bettendorf, where he found happiness and contentment until his death April 1, at the age of 81 years.

He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Hazel Flockhart of Yucca Valley, California.
Music for the services were furnished by LaVern Carson, organist. Pall bearers were Raymond Mitchell, Cecil Jenkins, Edwin Grayson, Adrian Fleming, Harlan Westenberg, and Ross Van Nordstrand. Ushers were Earl Crawford and Wilbur Morrison.

Interment was in the Emerson Cemetery with Mansfield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements and Humanity lodge proving Masonic rites.
