Robert L. Stephens, 78, Glenwood

Robert L. Stephens, 78, of Glenwood, died September 13, 2002, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Funeral services were held September 16, 2002, at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Bill Sargent presided over the service. Burial was at the Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Stephens was the son of Guy Robert and Mabel Caroline (Dobbs) Stephens, born August 28, 1924, in Mills County. He grew up in Henderson and lived in Avoca, Carson, and Oakland before moving to the Glenwood area in 1961. He was in the Army during WWII, 1944-1946. He married Patsy Aurilee Bedtker on June 22, 1948, in Elliott. He worked at Griffin Pipe for 25 years before retiring in 1986. He also did some farming.

Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Betty Edic and Mayola Keller. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Stephens of Glenwood; son Richard Stephens and wife Julie of Glenwood; daughters Cathy Stone and husband Steve of Glenwood, Bobbi Stephens of Glenwood, Connie Herbold and husband Ron of Woodbine and Peggy Schmah and husband Mark of Omaha, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers Larmon Stephens and wife Shirley of California, Dean Stephens of Macedonia, Dwaine Stephens and wife Vernie of Omaha, Nebraska, Dwight Stephens and wife Judy of Colorado, Bill Stephens and wife Melva of Treynor, Gary Stephens and wife Jill of Carson and Clifford Stephens and wife Judy of Glenwood; sisters Dorothy Keller and husband Gene of California, Mary Kinney and husband Joe of Indiana and Jolene Adkins of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Indian Creek Historical Society in Emerson. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
