Tap Sounds For Veteran. William Christy Of Pacific Junction, Member Of Eighth Iowa Cavalry Passes Away At Council Bluffs.

William Christy, the aged resident of Pacific Junction, who some days ago was taken to the Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs for care, died at that institution on Tuesday night.

Mr. Christy was born in Ind. about 73 years ago. In early life he emigrated to Missouri, and later came to Iowa. He has lived in Pacific Junction for the past 31 years.

He was a member of the Eighth Iowa Cavalry, and had been drawing a pension of $30 per month for disability received in the war.

The deceased never married and the only relatives in this county are a niece, Mrs. Sarah Moore, and a half brother, Charles King.

He had lived alone and cared for himself and scant care he gave himself both in food and clothing.

It is thought that he must have saved or in some way disposed of his surplus pension money. The body was brought to Pacific Junction on Wednesday and funeral services were held on Thursday with burial in the Glenwood cemetery. Rev. Cook conducted the services.

Note: Served with Co H 8th Iowa Cavalry.
