Glenwood Opinion, February 20, 1902

Garrett Van Arsdale died at his home in Glenwood Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock.' The funeral took place from his late home Monday at o'clock, being conducted by Rev. R. E Shaw, pastor of the Methodist church and of which the deceased was a member.

The following is an obituary, of his life:

Deceased was born in Owasca, New York, August 5, 1825 and died in Glenwood, Iowa, Feb. 16, 1902. He was married in 1850 to Sarah Williams, the union resulting in three children, one of whom, a son is now living in Michigan. In 1858 his wife having died, he was again married, this time to Hanna W. Fisher. In 1860 he removed to Michigan, and in 1889 to Omaha, coming to Glenwood in 1880 where he had since resided and where his wife preceded him some three years ago to the heavenly home. He was converted and united with the Methodist church in 1857 and had lived faithful to his church vows through these many years.
