James A. “Jim” Irvin, 67, of Glenwood, died Nov. 2, 2003, at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, 10:30 a.m., at the Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood. Pastor Darrell Hopp will officiate the services. Burial will be at the Silver City Cemetery.

Mr. Irvin was the son of Ulysses John and Jessie Grace (Fleming) Irvin, born June 20, 1936, in Malvern. He attended Maple Grove School, Grove School No. 4 and Macedonia School during elementary school and graduated from Strahan High School in 1955. He furthered his education by attending technical schools throughout the years. He loved music and being with family, especially during the holidays. He enjoyed camping and attending music festivals for over 20 years in Avoca.

He was employed at Earl Bass Elevator in Malvern for many years and retired from the Glenwood Resource Center three years ago after 20-plus years of employment. He still continued visiting and having coffee with fellow Glenwood Resource employees these past few years. He married Louise Williams on May 1, 2003, in Plattsmouth. He was a member of the local Eagles Club and Keg Creek Machinery Club and was a former Odd Fellow. He also served his country in the Army.

Mr. Irvin is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Chandler Sorensen. He is survived by his wife, Louise Irvin of Glenwood; children Arlene Stanek and husband Timothy of Glenwood, Lynda Stonerook and husband Dennis of Pacific Junction, Keith Irvin and wife Danielle of Council Bluffs, Laura Campbell of Glenwood and Rich Sorensen of Bellevue, Wash.; six grandchildren; sisters Bonnie Raymond and friend Jim Wyscarver of Council Bluffs, June Matthews of Carson and Julie McGrew and friend Billie White of Hastings; brothers John Irvin and wife Nancy of Yukon, Okla., and Joseph Irvin and wife Becky of Glenwood; several nieces and nephews; friends and music friends; and two Irvin granddaughters.

A memorial fund has been established. Peterson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
