J. J. Dunlap, A pioneer in Mills County, died at his home north of town Sunday evening about 8 o'clock, For about eight years Mr. Dunlap had been the victim of disease from which be could get no relief. His death, however, is thought by the physician to have been due to an acute attack of inflammation of the bowels. His suffering during the past few weeks was intense, but he bore all patiently.
As intimated above Mr. Dunlap came to Mills County in the early days of its settlement and by industry and thrifty habits succeded in gathering about him good deal of property, leaving his family in good circumstances. A wife and five children, besides brothers and sisters, are left to mourn their loss and all will have the sympathy of the public in their hour of sorrow. (We are promised a fuller notice for next week's issue.) Funeral services conducted by the Odd Fellows lodge, of which Mr. Dunlap was a member, were held in the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. W, J. Watson preached the sermon, The services at the church over, a very long funeral procession moved to the cemetery where the last sad rites were performed.
