Tabor Beacon Mar 10, 1905

This community was shocked Thursday morning by the news of the death of Mrs. E. R. Ashley at her home in North Tabor. Her death was very sudden. Wednesday she was up and around and seemed in better health than usual and planned her work for the next day. Thursday morning when Mr. Ashley went to call her he found her dead in bed. From all appearances death came while she was asleep. She had been suffering for some time with rheumatism, which is thought to have been the cause of her death. She was about 70 years of age. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon.

Polly Maynard was born in Erie County PA in 1833, and moved with her mother to Cuba, N.Y. in 1854. She was united in marriage to E. R. Ashley October 25, 1858 and moved to Iowa in 1869. She has been a resident of Tabor since 1880. Her death occurred at her home Thursday morning March 9, 1905. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon conducted by J. W. Ferner. Interment was madee in the Tabor Cemetery. She has been a consistent member of the Congregational Church since her residence in Tabor. She leaves a husband, brother and sister with their families to mourn her loss.
