Glenwood Opinion Tribune, August 7, 1952

Funeral services were held at Reid's Chapel Saturday, Aug. 2, for Mrs. Catherine J. Rainey, who died at her Glenwood home July 30. Mrs. Rainey, 81, a native of England, had been ill for the past two years.

The Rev. James Cook, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, conducted the service with Jack Reid soloist and Mrs. Margaret Colwell, accompanist.

Bearers included Williard Hindman, Harry Rainey, Glen Wilson, James Scott, Carroll Gray and Dale Jackson. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery.

Katherine Jane Moyle, daughter of Edward and Grace Moyle, was born in Cornwall, England, Oct. 18, 1871 and passed away at her home in Glenwood July 31, 1952.

When she was 13 she came to America with her mother and sister, Grace, to settle in Hanover, Ill. Her father, a brother and sister had passed away a few years before. She was married on July 5, 1888 to Oliver Allen Rainey, and lived in Illinois and Nebraska before coming to Iowa.

The seven children surviving are Mrs. Anne Kesterson, of Thurman, Mrs. Grace Kesterson, Shenandoah, Mrs. Thurza Edlund, Malvern. Nora of Glenwood, Edward of Tabor, and Pauline of Glenwood. There are 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mr. Rainey preceded her in death in 1943 and a son, William died a year later.

Mrs. Rainey was a member of Episcopal church of England, a patient sufferer during her long illness, a good neighbor and will be greatly missed among her family circle.
