SHERMAN, L.R. 1892-1972
Rites Monday for L.R. Sherman

Funeral services for Llewellyn Reece Sherman were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Ben Cast and Son Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Doyle Taylor, Raytown, officiating. Mrs. Lucille Wehmeyer and Mrs. Louise Garrett sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Whispering
Hope". Mrs. Dee Borum was organist. Pall bearers were Stephen Jacoby, James Sherman, Kenneth Morris, Keith Higgins, Gerald
L. Moon, and E.J. Higgins. Burial was in Versailles Cemetery at Versailles, Missouri.

Mr. Sherman, the son of Alvin H. and Rose Anna Huntsman Sherman, was born September 1, 1892 in Emerson, Iowa. He was
reared, educated and spent his early years in Iowa. He came to Missouri in 1925 and was a farmer and dairyman for several years.
He was married to Mabel Strader, May 2, 1915, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, and they were parents of nine children. His wife,
Mabel, preceded him in death on March 25, 1961. On November 20, 1966 Mr. Sherman was married to Gladys Layne, in Trenton.
He was employed by General Motors Corporation at Leeds, retiring in 1957. He was a member of the International Association of
Machinists and the United Auto Workers. Mr. Sherman died Friday, February 18, in Trenton, Missouri.

One son, James Jackson Sherman, preceded his father in death during World War II. Survivors are his wife, Gladys, of the home in
Trenton; five sons, Llewellyn Sherman, Jr., Raytown, Mo.; William Sherman, Fairbanks, Alaska; Stanley R.
Sherman, Warrensburg, Missouri.; Howard Sherman, Quick City, Missouri.; and David Sherman of Laurie, Missouri.; three
daughters, Mable, Mrs. Dan Jones, Kansas City, Missouri.; Genevieve, Mrs. James Higgins, Quick City, Missouri.; and Mrs.
Darlene Jacoby, Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother; Cleve Sherman, Sun Valley, Arizona; a sister, Mrs. Dora Gudgel, Cheyenne Wells,
Colorado; three stepchildren, Robert Haney, Grandview, Missouri.; Dorothy, Mrs. William Sherman, Fairbanks, Alaska; and Hope,
Mrs. John Higgins; Ottawa, Kansas; twenty eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren
