DATED SEPTEMBER 30, 1987:

Eva L. Evans, 86, a long-time Glenwood resident, died Saturday morning at the Mercy Care Center in Omaha.

Funeral services for her were Tuesday at the Raynor Funeral Home in Glenwood. The Rev. Evan Williams officiated with burial in the East Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.

Evans was born at Glen Elder, Kansas. The daughter of John E. Filbert and Lona Hance Filbert, she received her schooling in the Sharpsburg area. She lived many years at Clarinda and worked for the state school in Clarinda.

Following the death of her first husband, George Donaldson in 1943, she continued to work at the Clarinda institution where she met Artie C. Evans, Sr. and married him in 1953.

Her second husband preceded her in death in 1977.

Following her marriage to Artie, the couple moved back to Glenwood where she became a foster grandparent and also worked for the Glenwood State Hospital School.

She was a member of the First Christian Church at Glenwood.

Survivors include her son, George Donaldson of Tripoli; a brother, John Filbert of Houston, Tex.; a sister, Mildred Filbert of Hollywood, Calif.; two step-sons, Artie C. Evans, Jr. of Glenwood, and M. L. “Chick” Evans of Sun City, Ariz; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ray (Emsie) Hiley of Roach, Mo. and Mrs. Frank (Vicki) Fitzpatrick of Plattsmouth; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and 35 step great-grandchildren.
