GLENWOOD OPINION-TRIBUNE
DATED DECEMBER 12, 1938:

Services were held on Saturday afternoon in the Church of Christ in Pacific Junction at 2 o’clock for Alexander Hunter, well known and long time resident of Mills county, who passed away last Thursday morning. Rev. George O. Durkee was in charge of the services. He was assisted by Mrs. Durkee. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Ora Livengood and their daughter, Dorothy. those acting as pallbearers were Edd Johnson, Sidney Moore, O. H. Hiatt, Elmer Livengood, Charles Williams and Vern Wilson.

The body was laid to rest in the Martin’s Chapel cemetery.

Alexander Hunter, son of Armittie and John Hunter, was born in Fenemore, Wisconsin, July 9, 1868 and departed this life at the mercy hospital in Council Bluffs, Ia., Dec. 8, 1938, after an illness of four days, at the age of 70 years, five months and 29 days.

When a boy of 12 years of age he came with his parents across the country in a covered wagon and oxen, where they took up a claim in the state of Kansas. In the year of 1888, he settled in this state near Bartlett, Ia.

In the year of 1892 he was united in marriage to Phoebe Hines of Plattsmouth, Nebr. To this union eight children were born, Hiram of Glenwood; Jesse of Seattle, Wash.; Johnny of Benson, Nebr.; Mrs. Garrett Boevink of Adams, Nebr.; Marie of Lincoln, Nebr.; Edith of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Lindsey Raymond of Pacific Junction. His first wife and infant son, Willie, preceded him in death.

In the year of 1914, he was united in marriage to Iva Moore of Council Bluffs. To this union he leaves to mourn his wife and seven children and two step-daughters, Mrs. Evan Gearhart of Pacific Junction and Mrs. Fred Kriesel of Malvern, and two brothers, Jack and Jean of Pacific Junction. Also six grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Oct. 12, 1937 he was converted and later fully consecrated his life to God and became a member of the Church of Christ of Pacific Junction, of which he was a faithful member until his death.
