Mrs Sarah Dalton died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Angie Phifer, in Oak township, on Monday, June 10th, 1895, after an illness of several months, aged 78 years. The funeral, conducted by T. L. Stephens, was held on the following Wednesday, the body being laid to rest in the West Liberty cemetery. Mrs. Dalton was born in Kentucky Dec. 24, 1816 and when about 21 years of age was married to Elijah Dalton. After living a number of years in Indiana and Missouri she came with her husband to Mills county in 1851. She was the mother of 12 children, nine of whom survive her, and also the mother of 55 grand children and 23 great grand children, or a total of 90.

Note: There is no mention of Sarah Dalton in the Cemetery Book for West Liberty Cemetery, nor has a grave marker been located in the West Liberty Cemetery.
