In the death of Mrs. Leroy Britt, which took place last Thursday at the home near Malvern of her daughter Mrs. Henry Ranne, Mils county losses another sturdy pioneer. The funeral took place Saturday morning at the Malvern Methodist church, a denomination she had belonged to for 75 years. Mrs. Britt was nearly 92 years old, was born in Tennesseee in 1812, came to Mills county, July 12, 1852, her husband who died 7 years ago filing for record the first piece of land in the county, being the old homestead in section 18 of Silver Creek township. Mrs. Britt was the mother of 11 children, 5 of whom survive. Finley Britt, living in Utah, was not preent at the funeral. Other children from abroad were: Thos. Britt, Sioux Falls, S. D.; Mrs. L. P. Chambers, Council Bluffs; Mrs. Jane Crosby, Parsons, Kan.

Rhoda Ann Seaton was born March 9, 1812. She was the daughter of George Eli Seaton and Mary Moser.

Rhoda married Leroy Franklin Britt in Tennessee on September 25, 1833.

In 1853 they filed, for record, their land in Township 72, Range 41 in Mills County, which county had been newly formed in 1851.
