DATED AUGUST 10, 1982:Services were Thursday in Tabor for Verlin K. Reeves, 60, of Tabor. He died last Monday of a sudden heart attack.
Reeves was born on Oct. 4, 1921 in Mills County, the son of Walter Austin and Mary Josephine Reeves. He lived in Tabor his entire life, attended Tabor schools and graduated from Tabor High School in 1939. On July 26, 1947 he married Claire Eileen Longinaker and they had two children. Reeves entered the Military service Oct. 2, 1942 and served as a surgical technician in the 82nd Medical Corps in the South Pacific, Guam, New Guinea and Luzon, holding the rank of T/Sgt. He served over three years and was discharged Jan. 4, 1946 and came home to farm. He served as trustee of the Congregational Church and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; daughter, Jo Lynn of Simla, Colo.; son, Roger; mother, Mary Josephine Reeves; and brother, Albert, all of Tabor; and sister, Helen Russell of Hastings.
Services were at Crawford-Reeves Funeral Home with Dr. Neil Danberg and the Rev. Lauris Meek officiating. Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Jack Ewalt. Casket bearers were Jon Reeves, David Bell, Moulton Reeves, Tracy Reeves, Lee A. Ruse and Edward L. Russell. Interment was at Tabor Cemetery.
