Chad Troy Hicks, age 30, of Emerson, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at the Bryan East Hospital in Lincoln, Neb. Funeral services were held Nov. 21, 2006, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, with Pastor Paul Shores officiating. Burial was in the Emerson Cemetery.

He was born April 4, 1976 in Iowa City, the son of Robert and Mary (Clark) Hicks. He was raised in Emerson and graduated from Nishna Valley High School in 1994. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction business. He lived all of his life in the Emerson area. He was a member of the Oaks Community Church, was a volunteer football coach for the Firefighters Midget Football team in Lincoln, was an avid Nebraska fan, and loved fishing.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Henry and Mary Clark; and Robert Hicks. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Mary Hicks of Emerson; brother, Sean Hicks of Omaha, Neb.; sister, Erin Hicks of Omaha; grandmother, Vivian Hicks of Emerson; girlfriend Samfrances Stamps of Lincoln; and many aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund is being established in his name.
