GLENWOOD TRIBUNE
DATED MARCH 1930Mary A. Peppers was born, July 7, 1855, at Columbus Grove, Ohio, and was called to her eternal reward at 6:40 o'clock in the evening of March 7th, reaching therefore the age of 75 years, 8 months.
On Dec. 25, 1871 she was united in marriage to Jacob Reeder Hubbell and to them were born 8 children, five of whom died during early childhood. Her husband, the late Jacob Reeder Hubbell, preceded her in death, June 5, 1926. And the following May, their eldest son Harry passed away at his home here in Glenwood.
Those who survive her and mourn her parting, are her daughter, Mrs. L.V. Davis, of Sedgwick, Colo., with whom the subject of this sketch also made her home after the death ofher husband, and at whose home she also peacefully passed away; and one son, Alfred C. Hubbell, of Albert Lea, Minn. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 4 great grand children, as well as many friends.
In 1872 Mr. and Mrs. Hubbell left their home in Ohio for Nebraska, where they took up a homestead, living there for three years, amid the hardships of early frontier life. They then came to Mills county, Iowa, and for many years divided their time, living both in Iowa and Colorado.
Early in life she was converted and consecrated her life to the Lord, Jesus Christ, and united with the church of her choice, always living for the home she knew she was prepared for her when her life's work was ended.
Funeral services were held in the Holiness church here in Glenwood, Monday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. J.F. Stille, of the West Oak Baptist church. Music was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. D.W. Dobson with Mrs. R.E. Humphrey at the piano. The flower ladies were: Mrs. Joe McCurdy, and Mrs. Salyards. The pallbearers were: Tom Murphy, J.L. Ross, Guy Mayberry, Henry Hubbard, George Wolfe and John Marley. The body was laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery.
