Janet C. "Muntzie" Scherle, age 57, of Henderson, Iowa, died Oct. 22, 2006, at her home.

Survived by husband, John Scherle; daughters, Rachel Ratcliff and husband, Jeremy of Phoenix, Ariz., and Elizabeth Scherle and Rebecca Scherle of New York; brothers, Ed Muntz of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Mark and wife, Andrea Muntz of Medway, Mass.; sisters, Diane LeRette and husband, Jeff of Council Bluffs and Anne Holzpfel of Sandpoint, Idaho; mother-in-law, Jane Scherle of Council Bluffs; loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, Ed and Lillette Muntz; brother, Bobby; father-in-law, William J. Scherle; sister-in-law, Maureen Muntz; brother-in-law, Mark Holzpfel.

Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2006, at the Hertz Funeral Home in Carson, Iowa. Visitation Wednesday at the Hertz Funeral Home with the family present to receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials suggested to Siena/Francis House in Omaha, NE.

Muntzie outwitted the Grim Reaper and faced down Death at every turn until she could fight no more and was finally overwhelmed on October 22, 2006. She came of age in the early age of rock 'n' roll and saw the world's top bands in concert, including The Beatles - twice! She had the courage to leave home and travel halfway across the country with nothing more than a suitcase and an old stereo to establish a new life in Iowa on the farm with her girls, flowers, barn cats and dogs. She left the world a better place and gave more than she took, and out of a partnership of two, produced three daughters that carry on in her memory.
