Funeral servies for David W. Thomas, 44, were held Monday at Peterson Mortuary. The Rev. Clyde Harmon, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated, with burial at Glenwood Cemetery.

Thomas, who owned the Thomas-Aistrope Insurance Agency in Glenwood, died at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha on Friday following a brief illness.

He was born on March 12, 1941, in Council Bluffs, the son of Eliot and Dorothea Lakin Thomas. In 1946, he moved with his parents, younger brother Jim and half-brother Rupert Warren to Glenwood. he attended grade school and high school in Glenwood, graduating in 1959. During his high school years, he participated in all athletics and was an excellent student. He was elected to many offices, including Senior Class President.

He attended Simpson College where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he married Penelope Mason of Malvern, and they had two children, Susan and Jean. He was employed as a professional real estate appraiser for four years. The family then moved to Glenwood where he established the Thomas Insurance Agency.

In 1984, he married Beverly Blasi and they resided west of Glenwood where he remodeled a farm home.

Thomas spent much of his free time, from an early age, in the Pony Creek hills, associating with D. D. Davis in excavating Indian house sites. Memorials are suggested to the Mills County Historical Society.

He was also a member of the Mills County Compensation Board.

Survivors include his daughters, Susan Thomas of Omaha and Jean Thomas of Glenwood; his mother, Dorothea Thomas of Glenwood; his brother, James, Glenwood; and half-brother, Rupert Warren, Edgewater, Maryland.

Pallbearers wre Allan Christiansen, Gregg Aistrope, Alan Johnson, Gary Stouder, Paul Cheyney and D. D. Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Dick DeLashmutt, Roderic Pearson, Charles Radford, Tom DeLashmutt, Luther Gammon and Marv Fernald.
