THE MALVERN LEADER
DATED OCTOBER 30, 1924:

Mrs. May E. Shamblen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cleva Zaelke, near Red Oak, Friday morning, Oct. 24, 1924, at 2:20, at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 7 days.

May E. Moss was born near Oskaloosa, Iowa, Aug. 17, 1867. She was united in marriage to Frank D. Francis, Dec. 25, 1889. To this union five children were born of whom four are living, one having died in infancy. In the year 1888 she united with the Christian church of Malvern which membership she retained until death. She was married Nov. 22, 1911 to Chas. Shamblen.

The surviving children are: Chester S. Francis, New Brunswick, New Jersey; Cleva Zaelke, Lavern H. and Ila Francis of Red Oak, Ia. Besides the children she leaves five sisters and one brother: Mrs. Emma Culver, Boulder, Colo.; Mrs. Ella Miller, Cavour, So. Dak.; Mrs. Lotta Fortner, Knoxville, Iowa; Mrs. Frona Huffaker, Loveland, Colo.; Mr. W. G. Moss, Huron, So. Dak.; and Mrs. Eva Adams, New Virginia, Iowa.

All the children were present except Chester. Two sisters were also present: Mrs. Lotta Fortner of Knoxville, Ia. and Mrs. Eva Adams of New Virginia, Ia.

She was a long and patient sufferer of cancer of the lung, being bedfast since April 11, 1924.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Malvern, Oct. 25 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Ira E. Carney of Red Oak. This was preceded by a short service at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cleva Zaelke, by Rev. H. S. Wilkinson of Red Oak. Interment was in the East Liberty cemetery.
