DATED SEPT. 21, 1989:

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Sept. 16, at the McCurdy Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, for George Shanklin Hunt. He died Sept. 13, 1989, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. James Brackett of the First Baptist Church with burial in the Silver city cemetery. Musical selections included “Rock of Ages” and “God Understands”.

He was born July 30, 1911, in Silver City to Charles Lee and Cora Edna (Moore) Hunt. He married Amy Kearns and was a farmer for many years, having received one year of college education.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Larry of Emerson and Dean of Council Bluffs; a daughter, Peggy Matney of Arlington, TX; two brothers, Ed and Basil, both of Red Oak; and a sister, Marjorie Blackman, of Malvern; and three grandchildren.

A family visitation was held Friday evening, Sept. 15. Memorials are being directed to the American Heart Association.
