Jay West, age 83, of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Tabor Manor, Tabor, Iowa.

Jay was born near Nekoma, Kan. He served his country as a Navy radarman in WWII. Jay was also County Extension Agent; Crop Production Specialist; Crop Pro-Man (own business after retiring). He was a member of Toastmasters and Kiwanis.

Survivors include wife of 54 years, Elaine West, of Glenwood; daughters, Deborah and husband, Brent Clark, of Glenwood, Deirdre West and friend, Jim Bowman, of Council Bluffs, Dawn West of Danville, Calif.; son, Jeff West of Glenwood; adopted daughter, Kathy and husband, John Simmons, of Glenwood; sisters, Nancy and husband, Charles Grimes; Karen and husband, Sam Warren; brothers, Glenn and wife, Alice Mae West, Alvin and wife, Sarah West; Wilbur West; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family, Tuesday evening, Oct. 17, 2006, 6 to 8 p.m., Peterson Mortuary, Glenwood. Funeral service, Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, 10:30 a.m., Glenwood Community Church with Rev. Mark Smeltzer officiating. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood.

Memorials may be offered to Glenwood Community Church (Tractor Fund).
