Graveside services at Glenwood Cemetery were conducted by Silver Light Lodge No. 400, A.F. and A. M. at Silver City.

Ruben Stille, son of George and Anna Stille, was born at Glenwood, March 30th, 1889, and died at Clarkson Memorial Hospital in Omaha on Sunday evening, March 27th, 1955. He had attained the age of 65 years, 11 months and 27 days.

When he was about a year old, the family moved from Glenwood to a farm on Pony Creek west of Glenwood. There he grew to young manhood, and there he was educated in the school at old Pacific City. At the age of thirteen he went to live with his sister, Mrs. Anna Myer, to help her on her farm. In the years that followed, he worked on various farms in and around the Glenwood area.

On July 27, 1910, he was united in marriage with Pearl Ethel McCluskey of Glenwood. To this union were born nine children: Albert J. Stille of Villisca, Iowa, Walter G. Stille of Henderson, Iowa, Mrs. Leona V. Henderson of Malvern, Iowa, Mrs. Bedah Anna Huff of Emerson, Iowa, Mrs. Ila Fay Seick of Dunlap, Iowa, Ernest C. Stille of Malvern, Iowa, Mrs. Margaret Pearl Young of Greeley, Colorado, Mrs. Betty L.Hansen of Emerson, Iowa, and Pfc. Lee L. Stille, presently serving with the 114th Quartermaster Company at Pusan, Korea.

Following their marriage the young couple moved to a farm on Pony Creek for a time, and then, in the years that followed, they went first to a farm west of Pacific Junction where Ruben was in partnership with Charles Cheyney; thence to a farm near Silver City, and then for a time they made their home in Glenwood. However, Ruben could not resist the call of the soil, so they purchased a farm on the highway just west of Shenandoah, where they remained until moving to Glenwood on January 31st of this year.

Ruben had a deep and abiding love for his wife and family and would do anything possible for them. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Next to them, he loved his farm and growing things, the good earth and fine livestock. Whenever time would permit he liked to hunt and fish, and he dreamed of the day when he and his wife could travel and see the beauties of the country they lived in. He had a natural intuition that made him a tremendous success both in the business world and on the farm. He was well read, and he kept up to date on all current and general events, and he could discuss intelligently many of the vital issues of the day. His good sense of humor and thoughtful demeanor won him many, many friends.

He was a member of Glenwood Lodge No. 97 of the I.O.O.F. at Glenwood, and of the Masonic Lodge at Silver City. He was also a Rebekah, a director of the Federal Land Bank, and a member of the Farm Bureau.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Mrs. Ruben Stille of Glenwood, Iowa; our sons, Albert J. Stille of Villisca, Iowa, Walter G. Stille of Henderson, Iowa, Ernest C. Stille of Malvern, Iowa, and Lee L. Stille of Pusan, Korea; five daughters, Mrs. Leona V. Henderson of Malvern, Iowa, Mrs. Bedah Anna Huff of Emerson, Iowa, Mrs. Ila Fay Seick of Dunlap, Iowa, Mrs. Margaret P. Young of Greeley, Colorado, and Mrs. Betty L. Henderson of Emerson, Iowa; two brothers, Simon Stille and Ben Stille, both of Glenwood, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Mrs. A. M. McCluskey of Glenwood, Iowa, and twenty-three grandchildren: Lloyd Stille, Mrs. Kathryn Marsh, and Morris Stille, all of Villisca, Iowa, Bobby and Jeanie Stille both of Henderson, Iowa, Barbara Henderson of Des Moines, Iowa, Richard, Marilyn, and Karen Henderson all of Malvern, Iowa, Jerry and Judy Huff, of Emerson, Iowa, Dean , Ellen Gloria and Joie Seick, all of Dunlap, Iowa, Charles, Marion, Merna Lou, and Mary Stille, of Malvern, Iowa, Roger, Sharon, and Richard Young, of Greeley, Colorado, and Larry Hansen of Emerson., Iowa.
