OPINION TRIBUNE
DATED MARCH 5, 1925:

The Death Angel has claimed the spirit of another of Mills county’s pioneer residents, Madison M. Crouch who passed away at the home of his son, Charles Crouch on last Sunday morning, March 1. While Mr. Crouch had been afflicted with heart trouble for some time, his death was very sudden and unexpected.

Funeral services were held from the home of his son, George on Tuesday afternoon, March 3 conducted by Rev. Joseph Stille. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. F. V. Kemp and Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Criswell, all of Glenwood. Interment was made in the West Liberty cemetery. The following friends served as pallbearers: Claude Deupree, Rudolph Hopp, S. P. Stranathan, Guy Raine, George Merritt, and Joseph Heffield.

Madison M. Crouch was born June 13, 1847 near Boston, Mass., and died March 1, 1925 near Glenwood, Iowa at the advanced age of 77 years, 7 months and 19 days. When 11 years of age, he came with his parents to Illinois, where he lived until 21. At that time, he came to Linn County, Iowa, where on September 9, 1873 he was united in marriage with Mary A. Soper. To them eight children were born, two sons and six daughters, three of whom died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Crouch, two sons, Charles Henry and George Adelbert of West Oak, three daughters, Mrs. Al DeWeese and Mrs. Chester Deweese of West Oak and Mrs. Charles Hopkinson of Glenwood, Iowa and one brother, Frank Crouch of Glenwood. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren. Mr. Crouch was a loving husband and father, always caring well for the needs of his family, a splendid neighbor and a highly respected citizen. While not a member of any church yet in his home life and with his friends and neighbors he ever strove to exemplify the principals of Christianity.
