GLENWOOD - Mabel E. Boyce, 74, of Glenwood died Saturday (09-02-1989) at a Council Bluffs hospital following a long illness.

She was born south of Glenwood and lived most of her life in Council Bluffs. She has worked for a number of years as a nurse aide and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Her husband, Freddie R. Boyce, died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Harry R. Boyce Sr. of Smyrna, Tenn.; daughter, Sally Rose Reafleng of Council Bluffs; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 pm. Tuesday at the Raynor Funeral Home in Glenwood with the Rev. Edward Phillips, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Glenwood, officiating. Burial will be in the Malvern Cemetery.

Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the Meyer Funeral Home. Public visitation will be 8 a.m. - 8. p.m. daily at the funeral home.

Additional information: Mabel Spencer was born February 15, 1915 to John and Florence Spencer. On December 12, 1933 Mabel and Freddie Ray Boyce were married at Rockport, Missouri.
Besides the children listed in the obituary, Mabel and Freddie had two sons who died in infancy:
Donald Dean Boyce (died Sept. 6, 1936 at age 2) and Vernon Paul Boyce (died July 1938 at 2 months.)
