Funeral Services Held Tuesday For Mrs. Paul Haynie

Pioneer resident of Mills County laid to rest in Glenwood cemetery. Services held in Raynor’s Chapel

Funeral services for Mrs. Paul Haynie were held in Raynor’s Chapel in Glenwood Tuesday afternoon conducted by her pastor, Reverend J. S. Reel.

Elvira Elizabeth Williams, daughter of John and Minerva Williams, was born in Holt county, Missouri, on March 27, 1858. When she was 5, her parents came to Mills county, Iowa locating on a farm in Lyons township. At the age of 9, she lost her mother in death.

On February 21, 1875, she was united in marriage to Paul Haynie. Mr. and Mrs. Haynie established they home in Lyons township and lived there until 1925, when they came to Glenwood. Eight children blessed this union. Her husband and six children preceded Mrs. Haynie in death. Pearl, Fannie, Aaron Clay and Earl died in infancy. Lee passed away in 1917. Charley in 1938 and Mr. Haynie in 1937.

Mrs. Haynie affiliated with the Christian church early in life and continued to live a Christian life throughout the years. She was a loving wife and mother, devoted to her home and family.

After several years of failing health Mrs. Haynie passed away at her home on West Sharp street Saturday evening, August 1, 1942, at the age of 84 years, four months and four days.

She leaves two sons, Wood of Los Angeles, California, and Ralph of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two half sisters, Mrs. Alfa Nutting of Longmont, Colorado and Fannie Walling of Port Orchard, Oregon.

Music of the funeral service consisted of songs by Tom White, Shirley Mayberry, Steve Criswell, Garreld Baker with Mrs. Tom White at the piano.

Those in charge of the floral offerings were Priscilla Marshall, Loraine Pollitt, Mary McClary, Hariett Marshall and Mrs. James Farnage.

Those that served as pallbears were Kenneth Haynie, Paul D. Haynie, Walter Buechler, William Stacy, Earl Stacy and Brown Borrow. The body was laid to rest in the Glenwood cemetery.
