Russell G. Crouch, age 88, of Glenwood, died Sept. 8, 2006, in Council Bluffs. Funeral services were held Sept. 11, 2006 at Peterson Mortuary in Glenwood with Dick Lincoln officiating. Interment was in the Glenwood cemtery.

He was born Sept. 1, 1918 in Mills County to George Adelbert and Otellie (Tuchenhagen) Crouch. He attended West Liberty No. 1 Country School. He and his brothers worked hard on the farm alongside their father. The broke sod, planted corn, shucked corn by hand and put in hay. They also cared for the livestock, which included a special team of horses named Nig and Prince.

In the spring of 1937, he met Frances Evelyn Plumb and they joined the First Christian Church in Glenwood on Sept. 19, 1938. A week later they were baptized, and on Sept. 22, 1940, they were married by Rev. H. G. Parker in the parsonage of the Methodist Church. They had one daughter, Sharon, born on June 21, 1942. In 1966, the family built a new house just east of the old one and in 1967, he purchased 75 acres of Tom White's farmland, which adjoined their farm. He enjoyed farming and raising livestock for many years. He also liked to travel with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter Sharon in 1982; wife Frances in 1999; brother Albert W. Crouch; sister May L. Boyce; and two nephews. He is survived by brother Kenneth of Glenwood; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousin, other relative and a host of friends.

A memorial fund has been established.
