Funeral services for a long time and highly respected resident of the West Oak community were held Sunday afternoon at the West Oak church, when relatives, neighbors and other friends assembled to pay one last tribute to the memory of Edmund G. Boyce. The service was conducted by Rev. E. E. Goodrich, assisted by Rev. Ferdinand Seitz. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Griffith, accompanied by Miss Nora Stille as pianist. Those in charge of the flowers were Aileen May, Mary Boyce, Viva Benedict and Gladys Benedict, all granddaughters of Mr. Boyce. The pallbearers were Rueben Stille, James Benedict, Earl Eckley, Ralph Mayberry, L. B. Osborne and Emil Arp.

The body was laid to rest in the West Liberty cemetery.

Edmund George Boyce, eldest son of Robert and Nancy Boyce, was born Oct. 1, 1866 in Missouri, and passed away at his home five miles northwest of Glenwood, Saturday morning, Nov. 12, 1938, after a long illness, at the age of 72 years and one month. Everything that was possible was done by his loving wife and children, to make his last hours easier.

The family came to Iowa when he was a year old and located near Folsom, Ia.

He was married on Oct. 15, 1892 to Effie Alice Sebern. They engaged in faming and have lived in their present home 33 years. There remains to mourn his passing, five sons and three daughters as follows: Ernest, Elmer, Ferdinand, Charles, Mrs. Goldie White, Mrs. Sylvia Benedict and Mrs. Esther Keene, all of Glenwood, and Robert L., of Holdredge, Nebr. There are 13 grandchildren and one brother, Jesse Boyce of Wayne, Nebr., and two sisters, Mrs. A. M. McCluskey of Silver City, and Mrs. Ferdinand Seitz of Council Bluffs; also several nieces and nephews and many friends.

When a young man he was converted, joining the United Brethern church and remained faithful unto the end.
